We’re already a week into January! What! Are you making the most of it? I’ll tell you what has started me off on a productive foot in 2019: a capsule wardrobe.
Why A Capsule Wardrobe?
Because it has made getting dressed–well dressed–a snap every single day. No matter what, I’ve got a coordinated outfit ready to go. The only challenge is trying to steer clear of spit up so I don’t have to wash.
Do you feel more productive and motivated when you are dressed for the day you want to have, as they say? I know I do! Something about putting on a pair of pants with a zipper puts a zip in my step. It’s hard to get too comfy or lazy when you can’t bend your knees all the way (thank you, skinny jeans).
I wrote about My Goals for 2019 recently, one of which was to keep up my appearance. Because it makes ME feel better, which makes EVERYbody feel better. And I’m better able to serve my family when I am feeling productive and accomplished rather than sloppy and uninspired.
How This Capsule Is Different From My Previous Capsules
I have made makeshift capsules before (check out my 2016 Winter Capsule Wardrobe), but this time is a little different. This might sound petty, but I’ll tell you what made all the difference in this capsule vs. my previous attempts:
A separate garment rack and nice wooden hangers.
I feel so bourgeois saying that, but it is 100% true. This year for Christmas, I asked my husband to buy me a garment rack and wooden hangers for a specific corner in our bedroom where I could put together my capsule wardrobes. And bless his heart, he agreed, not knowing what he was getting into. (Nah, just kidding, he is totally a good sport for letting me use my closet as a decoration.)
Before this, I would pick out a handful of clothes for my capsule and somehow try to section them off in my cluttered master closet. It was so lack luster. So I finally took the advice of the experts and *invested* in a nice place to display my exclusive choices. I say investment as a joke because this garment rack was literally only $37 on Amazon. And I am so happy with it. And the wooden hangers were only $26 for a pack of 30. Trust me when I say, if you have the space, this makes ALL the difference. And if you don’t, I suggest trying to clear a spot in some closet somewhere to display JUST your capsule.
