My Goals for 2019

Hello friends! I’ve been out of the loop for a while because I’ve been making big plans for 2019.

The week after Christmas is arguably just as exciting for me as the weeks leading up to Christmas because I love a fresh start. And there’s no better time to remake yourself than the start of a new year! I love making plans and writing new goals and mapping out how I want to achieve them. Plus, any money I receive over Christmas gives me the perfect opportunity to equip myself with whatever I may need to move towards my new goals.

In 2017, I started a journey towards a more minimalist lifestyle. 2018 proved to be an expansion of those goals. But 2019 is shaping up to be my most minimal year yet–with a twist! This year, I’m excited about adopting more zero waste habits. I’ll be writing more about that in the weeks to come.

But today, I simply wanted to share my 2019 goals with you. Here we go!

How My Goals Changed This Year

In years past, I would set a huge list of goals; like 30+ goals!! Every year that I’ve done this, I’ve fallen astronomically short of achieving them, because, truthfully, it’s too much. I think I did it because I just love making lists. #listersgottalist

This year I’ve done one really basic thing. I wrote a mission statement for myself using my name is an acronym. It embodies everything I want to emulate in this SAHM season of my life. And everything that Huntress At Home is about. Here it is:

My SAHM Mission Statement

  1. Harbor a warm and peaceful home for my family and friends.
  2. Understand and facilitate how my children learn and grow.
  3. Name and address areas for growth and improvement in my home and family.
  4. Teach my children to love God and love others.
  5. Embrace my husband.
  6. Read, meditate on, and apply God’s Word daily.

My mission verse is Proverbs 31:27-28:

“She looks well to how things go in her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her.”

And that’s it! My mission statement and my mission verse are my two areas of focus for 2019. It’s minimal, simple, and intentional.

  1. I’ve never been much of a New Year’s resolution kind of girl but this year is different. I have embraced setting some goals for myself. I want to organize and maintain my home in an orderly way, adopt a cleaner way of cooking and eating ( much more plant-based), waste less(of everything), and start some sort of exercise at least 3 times a week. I’m excited to start a No Buy year which hopefully will help me use and enjoy the things that I already have. Thanks so much for all the inspiration that you give.
