Happy belated Easter, readers! Or, as I like to say, Resurrection Sunday! He is Risen!
I wanted to share a few family photos with you! We had a pretty typical holiday–dressed our best, including Shepherd in his new carrot shirt, and attended the late service (because kids, lol).
Can you believe the fat little chin on this baby already?! He’s only 1.5 months and the 3-month clothes are already getting snug. At this rate, he’s going to pass his big brother!
Resurrection Sunday Vs. Easter
I prefer to call it Resurrection Sunday, because the term “Easter” originated from pagan spring fertility traditions–hence the bunnies and eggs–that have nothing whatsoever to do with Jesus. If you have ever been confused about what the word “Easter” has to do with Jesus’ resurrection, now you know! It has nothing to do with it at all! Somewhere along the line, our Christian celebration mixed with the spring pagan celebration and gave us the modern day title and some confusing traditions.
You can read more about this at my favorite website for biblical inquiries, Got Questions.
Snack Hunt!
That being said, I wanted to do something fun for Jonas. We did not do Easter baskets, (though we may do some sort of “resurrection basket” in the future) but I did break out some plastic eggs. I have tried my best not to introduce him to candy yet (because he would probably never eat anything else again, haha!!), so I filled the eggs with some snacks he would enjoy and “hid” them around the yard for him to find. I opened the first egg to show him the prize inside and he was off! Like a hound dog sniffing a sock! I think he really enjoyed it–almost as much as I did. *Wink*
