I don’t know about you other work from home moms, but I have mixed feelings about the situation. Sometimes life’s a breeze. There are days I feel like I really get the best of both worlds. I’m able to work as it suits my needs, control my income, and put my family first while maintaining something purposeful for myself. I knew from the moment my first son was born that I wanted to stay home. And I’m so thankful. However, there are also days it’s really tough. There are plenty of days I find it hard to strike a balance. It’s a whole different ballRead More →

A few days ago, I walked outside to load the kids in the car for a morning playdate and, to my dismay it was actually chilly. And there were leaves on the ground. I was so surprised. But then I remembered I don’t live in the center of North Carolina anymore where fall is a true season. On the coast there are essentially only two seasons: HOTHOTHOT or relatively cold. Fall and spring only last about two weeks each. Even though it’s been blazing outside since May, I’ve tried my best to keep the kiddos outside. Not to mention out and about for playdates asRead More →

When I think of a bedroom being a happy place, I always think back to when I was a kid. Maybe seven or eight years old, little sister not far behind me. We were homeschooled, so we slept in some days, but on the days we managed to get up earlier than my mom, we’d slide down the stairs on our rears and sneak in through the cracked door. I remember the fan casting a gentle breeze, the sunlight creeping in, and the morning quiet. And I remember it even being a retreat at night when I was older. I used to love to stayRead More →

If there’s something I’ve learned about finances as a stay-at-home mom, it’s this: living on one income is a challenge! It takes serious budgeting and even sacrifice at times to make it work. It’s no wonder many SAHMs decide to supplement with a side income by taking up a part-time job or start their own business. (Sometimes finances being a secondary reason to do so—the first being sanity.) Personally, I do a conglomeration of things to bring in small bits of money. Though, with a two-year-old and a 6-month-old, there aren’t many long-term jobs I can commit to. At least, nothing that can’t be doneRead More →

Hi, readers! It’s that time of the month again–my May favorites post! A collection of things I’ve been using this month that have made my life easier. Or things that are just plain fun! I’m looking back over the month and realize I haven’t posted anything since my last “favorites” post. Alongside my apologies for the unpredictable nature of my posting schedule, I’ll say this: it is really hard to adjust to any sort of part-time work with two babies at home. I mean, really hard!? Once Junior #2 is sleeping through the night (thus allowing me to forgo taking naps when the kids do),Read More →

Today I’m introducing a new series of monthly posts: Favorites! At the end of each month I want to share a collection of things I’ve been loving with you. I’ve always enjoyed watching youtube videos and reading posts of this type.  So, I thought, why not start a series like this myself? Let’s go! February favorites: Ebook: How to Blog for Profit Without Selling Your Soul I stumbled across this ebook by Ruth Soukup one day in January and downloaded it immediately on Amazon because it was a good price and I’ve been looking for some concise instructions on website growth. How To Blog For ProfitRead More →

I’m spending the month of January expanding on my goals for 2018. Today, I’m talking about my goals for my home and how I plan to get rid of clutter this year! You can check out my complete list of 33 goals on my post, New Year’s Goals For 2018. Yes, I realize 33 goals may be overkill, but I say… Goal hard or go home. *Slaps knee at how hilarious I think I am* 1. Organize & implement storage solutions throughout the house. So, I’ve gotten really tired of clutter under the kitchen sink, the top of the nursery dresser staying piled with diapers,Read More →

Anyone who has been married longer than a week knows that marriage is hard work. It takes a lot of care and maintenance to keep all the aspects of this complex institution running smoothly. And sometimes, even with tremendous effort, things can be bumpy. Storms come, complacency sets in, temptations rise, and selfishness erodes. That’s why I try to set goals for my marriage every year. This June, my husband and I will have been married for 5 years. For some of you seasoned couples out there, 5 years is chump change! No argument there! Nevertheless, I’m proud to look back on 5 years andRead More →

The week after Christmas is my favorite time of year. I would almost venture to say it’s more exciting for me than Christmas itself. That’s because I spend the entire week making elaborate New Year’s goals and plans of action. In 2017, minimalism was my focus, and this year is only slightly different. You can check out what my minimalist goals were last year here. I didn’t accomplish as many things as I had hoped to in 2017 due to my year long battle with postpartum anxiety and depression, but I’m thankful to say these last few weeks have brought some much-needed relief. I don’t know ifRead More →

So, as a SAHM, I start my day pretty early. And unless I have plenty of activities or outings planned, it can drag on… and on. On a good day, Jonas and I have an outing or a playdate planned, spend some time outside, and nap time takes up at least an hour-and-a-half so I can get a few things done. But many days I’m stuck coming up with ways to keep him entertained. I’m also stuck with trying to find ways to keep myself from feeling isolated and bored with toddler activities. (I can only push cars around and drop blocks in a bucketRead More →
