I was taking a “mom break” recently. And if you are a mom, you know exactly what I’m talking about: You find some junk food, plop down on the couch, and give up monitoring the chaos for a little while. I had the baby in my arms who was struggling to nap and the toddler was smashing up my fake plant with his trucks. (RIP plastic ficus.) I turned on Youtube to catch up on my subscriptions and zone out until nap time. I clicked on a video from one of my favorite lifestyle vloggers. She was having BBQs with friends, meets ups with adoring fans,Read More →

Hi, readers! It’s that time of the month again–my May favorites post! A collection of things I’ve been using this month that have made my life easier. Or things that are just plain fun! I’m looking back over the month and realize I haven’t posted anything since my last “favorites” post. Alongside my apologies for the unpredictable nature of my posting schedule, I’ll say this: it is really hard to adjust to any sort of part-time work with two babies at home. I mean, really hard!? Once Junior #2 is sleeping through the night (thus allowing me to forgo taking naps when the kids do),Read More →

Happy belated Easter, readers! Or, as I like to say, Resurrection Sunday! He is Risen! I wanted to share a few family photos with you! We had a pretty typical holiday–dressed our best, including Shepherd in his new carrot shirt, and attended the late service (because kids, lol). Can you believe the fat little chin on this baby already?! He’s only 1.5 months and the 3-month clothes are already getting snug. At this rate, he’s going to pass his big brother! Resurrection Sunday Vs. Easter I prefer to call it Resurrection Sunday, because the term “Easter” originated from pagan spring fertility traditions–hence the bunnies andRead More →

Hello readers! It’s been a couple of weeks since I last posted for Jonas’ second birthday. Since then I’ve had help off and on with the transition into life with two kids at home. Thank goodness my husband had time off, my mom stocked my freezer with fallbacks, and my in-laws have helped with my toddler! Technically, I had a brief stint with the “two under two” thing, but nothing has gotten easier since Jonas turned two. Haha! Speaking of easier (and this is me talking without having spent a significant amount of time on my own with these munchkins), the transition hasn’t been asRead More →

Today my little man turned two! And even though he has definitely hit the terrible twos, he’s still one of my finest accomplishments—and delights. Speaking of delights, here are some of his! Jonas loves anything mechanical. One day this week we were watching a YouTube video of a kid taking apart a nerf gun (don’t ask…) and Jonas was intent on what he was doing. He loves parts and pieces and putting things together. Not to mention taking things apart. And breaking stuff. I digress… He loves wheels, hammers, and trying to “pick locks” with Bobby pins. No, that’s not a joke. He has theRead More →

I am a planner addict. No joke, writing trivial to dos and penciling in the most redundant tasks and events is my hobby. I enjoy planning SO much, in fact, that I haven’t been able to decide between using a planner and a bullet journal. At one point I was using strictly a bullet journal and then switched to just using a planner for a while. I even wrote a post on the pros and cons of using a bullet journal and using a planner. Then I decided, why chose just one?? I can use both because I use them in completely different ways! Today,Read More →

“Mise en place.” Have you heard this term before? If you are seasoned in the kitchen, chances are you are familiar with it. If not, you are about to save so much time and stress by learning this simple concept. What Is Mise En Place? “Mise en place” is a french phrase meaning “putting in place” or “everything in its place.” Pronounced MEEZ-ahn-plahs, it is a philosophy used by professional chefs and in many home kitchens alike. It acts as a noun, a verb, and a state of mind; that is, mise en place refers to the physical set up of your ingredients, the actRead More →

Today I’m introducing a new series of monthly posts: Favorites! At the end of each month I want to share a collection of things I’ve been loving with you. I’ve always enjoyed watching youtube videos and reading posts of this type.  So, I thought, why not start a series like this myself? Let’s go! February favorites: Ebook: How to Blog for Profit Without Selling Your Soul I stumbled across this ebook by Ruth Soukup one day in January and downloaded it immediately on Amazon because it was a good price and I’ve been looking for some concise instructions on website growth. How To Blog For ProfitRead More →

Hello readers! If you’ve been reading between the lines of my posts the last few months, you’ll know we’ve been expecting a new addition to the family. And he has arrived! Welcome to the world little Shepherd Grayson! Shep was born at 1:35pm on February 22, 2018 weighing 7 lbs. 10 oz. at 20 inches long. He has blue eyes and dark brown hair. We are so excited to announce his arrival and ask for your prayers as we adjust to this transition! Any advice from moms of multiples out there? I’m not sure how I’ve survived having even just one all this time! ThisRead More →

Hello readers! Today, I’m trying something new and blazing a trail on Huntress At Home: a recipe. Upon adopting a plant-based lifestyle I’ve been obsessed with making vegan versions of my favorite foods. I’ve also been reading a lot about food photography, though I don’t claim to be an expert in that field just yet. Food blogging has never been as much my style as other forms of writing, but I wanted to give it a shot because, frankly, food is what I do best. I have a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, so I spend copious amounts of my free time consuming health andRead More →
